Dear all
Incidentally, Lord blessed me to visit the Village during February 2014. A few days before my visit, the villagers while preparing for planting of seeds for agricultural purposes, found a stone. They brought it up and found it to be a idol where a clear picture of a Goddess with a half human lady and half a snake. As such they called it as "Naga Kanya". The word "Naga" means "snake". The word "Kanya" means, a virgin girl.
In the ancient Puranaas of Hinduism, "Naga Kanyas" were worshiped. Now that the idol is found in a remote village - travel to it, is a strenuous one these days, while the Government made so many transportation arrangements. The picture should have been quite different centuries ago. The literacy level must also be comparatively quite less. Even today, the literacy level is not much to the standard in this village.
Well, that be the scenario, we can not presume a talented artist to carve a stone of this nature into a structure of this kind. This is what we can say logically. But, when we see the idol today, surely we can conclude that such a heavy weight structure could not have been transported to this area from somewhere. Means, the stone work should have been done here and here only.
Now the second point is that, how the artist presumed and designed a structure of this nature and how did he conceive. Unless we see a picture or hear about a structure, we can not formulate an imaginary structure into our brain. Unless an imaginary structure is made up within us, it can not be brought to shape. Hence by all means, I find it unusual and presume that such persons might have existed in the then days.
What ever it is, it is worth visiting, secondly it is also worth investigating so that certain facts might see light.
Yours affectionately
